Strategies for Developing Cross-Discipline Collaborations

• Appeal to your partner’s needs. What problem do they need help solving? What does their previous work tell you about them and the outcomes they need/want?

• Start small. Before approaching a new faculty partner, learn about their course and create a sample of how a game (or other project) could work, have ideas ready before talking to them. Present options.

• Show off! Draw in new partners by showcasing your work. Demonstrate your value by showing off successful projects. Maintain a webpage or e-portfolio with examples of previous work.
