Chatbots and Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and Chatbots are a hot topic now due to the release of ChatGPT in late 2022.  ChatGPT is an A.I. tool that can generate human sounding text in response to a question or prompt. It can make up a poem, write song lyrics, or craft an argument. However, the information produced is not always accurate or even real. There have been many reports of ChatGPT producing incorrect information, fabricating citations, and creating disinformation.

What does this mean?  It is imperative that we know how to fact check, detect A.I. generated content, and locate original sources from citations. In this guide you'll find tips and tools to help you. Check out all of the library's How to Guides for more tools to help you improve your research skills and find reliable information.
