Purpose

To encourage student research and use of Library resources. While consideration is given to the product of the research, the prize focuses on the research process and application of information literacy skills.  Information literacy skills include the ability to define an information need, identify sources, evaluate information gathered, and use information in an ethical manner.

 

Eligibility

The following are eligible:

  • Research papers/projects written for classes held during Summer 2010 - Spring 2011 semesters.

  • Students who agree to provide the paper/project for public display in the Library and/or online.

 The following are not eligible:

  •  Creative writing and other projects not involving significant library research, such as artwork, performances, personal essays, and other projects.

  •  Papers/projects written by more than one student.

  •  Papers/projects created by board approved employees of Scottsdale Community College or the MCCCD District.
