How to find high quality websites
When looking at websites, ask yourself the questions below in order to find the highest quality sites.
CRITERIA |
DESCRIPTION |
AUTHORITY |
What experience or education does the author have related to this subject? Is the author an expert on this topic? Is the page part of an individual's site or part of an organization's site? If an individual is the author, is he/she an expert on the topic? If an organization, is it reputable? Is contact information available? |
ACCURACY |
Is the source free of obvious errors? Does the author give proper attribution to borrowed information or knowledge (i.e. cite sources)? |
OBJECTIVITY |
Does the author have a bias, taking a position on an issue, or giving only one side of the story? To what audience is the author writing? If a website, is the site trying to sell you something? |
CONTENT |
Does this site contain the kind of information that I need? Does the site offer something unique that is not found elsewhere? Is the subject well-researched and covered comprehensively? Is the information well organized? |
CURRENCY |
Does it show when the page was last updated? |
