What are course reserves?

Reserves are course-related materials made available, either electronically or physically, through the SCC Library. Items that may be on reserve for a class include text books, DVD’s, book chapters, etc.

How do I find course reserves?

To check if your course materials are available in the SCC Library

  1. Click this link: Library Catalog

  2. Click on the down-arrow next to Scottsdale CC in the dark blue navigation bar

  3. Select SCC Course Reserves

  4. Search by Course Name, Course ID, or Instructor Name

If you don't find your course materials at the Library, try checking with the SCC Tutoring Center that is affiliated with your course:

How long may I keep a course reserve item?

The majority of course reserve materials are checked out for 3 hours. We will always tell you exactly what time your item is due. If you forget, you may check your library account online. A  photo ID is required for all check outs and items may not leave the library.

Where can I return a course reserve item?

Course reserves must be returned to the desk from which the material was borrowed.

What are the late fees for course reserves?

As soon as a reserve item is overdue, a late fee of  $0.50 an hour is assessed.

Reserve Items (books and non-book items): Past due Reserve items may accrue late fines. When Reserve items are 2 days past due, they will be considered Lost-Assumed and the borrower will be billed the cost of the Reserve items. Borrowers have 7 days from the assumed lost date to return overdue Reserve items and have the cost of the item reversed. After 7 days, previous payment for overdue Reserve items that are subsequently returned is not refundable.
