Reserve Material Service Guidelines

Reserve Material Service Guidelines

Faculty or administrators may place course materials on Reserve in the SCC Library. Items are grouped by subject and checkout services are available during regular Library hours.  If you have any questions regarding these guidelines or the Library Reserve service, please feel free to contact Kevin Feeken at 480-423-6647 or email kevin.feeken@sccmail.maricopa.edu.

A.  PLACING MATERIALS ON RESERVE:

A completed Reserve Request Form must accompany all materials being submitted to the Library. All materials are subject to copyright compliance.  Information on copyright of Reserve materials can be found on the Reserve request form.

           1.  PERSONAL MATERIALS:

Faculty members may place personal materials on Reserve. These items are subject to routine checkout and overdue procedures. The Library cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged items. Each item submitted will be labeled and tagged to be protected by the Library security system. Library staff cannot provide photocopies.

2.   LIBRARY-OWNED MATERIAL:

Faculty members may place Library-owned books on Reserve. This is subject to the approval of a Librarian and is limited to one month per semester.

3.   ADDING TITLES:

Materials can be added to existing Reserve request forms at the Library’s circulation desk.

 B.  LOAN PERIODS:

The Library loan period options are:

  •      1, 2, and 3 hour in-library use only
  •      1 day (may include weekends if checked out on Saturday)
  •      3 days
  •      1 week
  •      Faculty may also specify an alternative loan period

C.  PROCESSING TIME:

Please allow 24 hours for materials to be processed and made available for the Reserve shelf. Each item should be submitted with the request form.

D.  REMOVAL DATE:

Removal dates for items placed on Reserve can be chosen from the following options:

  •  End of this semester
  •  In one year
  • TBA (Item will be held on Reserve until the requesting faculty asks for their item(s) to be removed)
  • Faculty may also specify a specific date for their Reserve item(s) to be removed

E.    REPLACEMENT COST:

Please provide a replacement cost for personal materials so students can be billed for lost or damaged items. If a replacement cost is not provided, the Library will assign a comparable price to the item. The Library cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged items.
