Reserve Material Service Guidelines
Faculty
or administrators may place course materials on Reserve in the SCC Library. Items
are grouped by subject and checkout services are available during regular Library
hours. If you have any questions regarding these guidelines or the

A.
PLACING MATERIALS ON RESERVE:
A
completed Reserve Request Form must accompany all materials
being submitted to the Library. All materials are subject to
copyright compliance. Information on copyright of Reserve materials can be
found on the Reserve request form.
1. PERSONAL
MATERIALS:
Faculty members may place
personal materials on Reserve. These items are subject to routine checkout
and overdue procedures. The Library cannot accept responsibility for lost
or damaged items. Each item submitted will be labeled and tagged to be
protected by the Library security system. Library staff cannot provide
photocopies.
2. LIBRARY-OWNED MATERIAL:
Faculty members may place Library-owned
books on Reserve. This is subject to the approval of a Librarian and is
limited to one month per semester.
3. ADDING TITLES:
Materials can be
added to existing Reserve request forms at the Library’s circulation desk.

LOAN PERIODS:
The Library loan period options are:

1, 2, and
3 hour in-library use only
-
1 day
(may include weekends if checked out on Saturday)

3 days
-
1 week
-
Faculty
may also specify an alternative loan period
C.
PROCESSING TIME:
Please
allow 24 hours for materials to be processed and made available
for the Reserve shelf. Each item should be submitted with the request
form.

REMOVAL DATE:
Removal
dates for items placed on Reserve can be chosen from the following options:
- End of
this semester
- In one
year
- TBA (Item
will be held on Reserve until the requesting faculty asks for their item(s) to
be removed)
- Faculty
may also specify a specific date for their Reserve item(s) to be removed

REPLACEMENT COST:
Please provide a replacement cost for personal materials so students can be billed for lost or damaged items. If a replacement cost is not provided, the Library will assign a comparable price to the item. The Library cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged items.
